[Objective]To improve health and quality of life in working population and to promote economic sustainable development. [Methods]A survey of occupational health promotion program in 20 enterprises with 1 432 employees in Kunmimng city was conducted, utilizing a self-administered questionnaires and a Chinese version of the SF-36 health survey questionnaire, to determine the employees' level of knowledge, attitude towards wellness, their current level of action and their worksite, meanwhile, health status and its influencing factors of workers were analyzed. [Results]The results showed that the life quality of employees employed by state-owned enterprises or the occupational disease situation was not good. The employees' age, length of service, gender, level of knowledge, attitude towards wellness, their current level of action and education were important influencing factors on life quality of the workers. [Conclusion]Occupational health education and health promotion play an important role in improving the quality of life of working population.
