Two newly discovered natural derivatives of benzamide, O-Ethyltembamide (1) and N-[(Z)-2-(4Methoxyphenyl)vinyl]benzamide(2), together with four known compounds, hortiamide (3), N-[(E)-2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)vinyl] benzamide (alatamide) (4), dihydroaltamide (5) and tembamid (6), were isolated from the barks of of Zanthoxylum myriacanthum var. pubescens (Huang) Huang. Their structures were determined on the basis of spectral data. The anti-inflammatory activity of the isolated compounds (1-6) were scanned against NO production in LPS-activated RAW 264.7 macrophages by MTS assay, however no significant activities were observed.
